Obverse
The Welsh Dragon, a Heraldic symbol of Wales. Around the Dragon are the words 'Aur Cymru' and in English 'Welsh Gold' along with the weight and year.

Reverse
The Welsh Maiden which is a registered mark of authenticity for Gold produced from Gwynfynydd mine and has become synonymous with Welsh Gold. Also on the reverse combines several emblems of Welsh heritage including a harp, a daffodil, a dragon shield and branches of oak and laurel.
